Chapter Four

Lily prowled down a short hallway with three doors. The top floor of the resort rose miles above the Strip, and the end of the corridor offered a glass-floored step out where she could have—if she had the nerve—stood and surveyed the lights of Las Vegas below, the starry skies above. While the Carnivore Club wasn’t the tallest, it had so many amazing features she thought she could spend weeks discovering them all. Of course, she only had one night and would spend that bound, blindfolded, and gagged, while a stranger flogged her.

Outside a door marked Executive Suite A, she paused, hand lifted to knock. Could she do it? Stranger…stranger. She’d run from Barry who she felt she’d known forever. But this was for Barry. She’d used every dime she had to buy this night and, if she could survive it, she could return to the original Club…but Barry was in Las Vegas now and had subs by the thousands ready to fall at his feet. Why would he want her at all?

She let her hand drop to her side and turned away just as the door opened. Oh, God. He—whoever he was—stood behind her. She felt him there like the heat of a raging fire burning the skin at the back of her neck exposed by her hairstyle. Her fingers itched to yank the pins and let the strands fall to protect her from him. The seconds ticked by while she made her decision. But even if Barry didn’t want her, she had to face her fears. To try to regain what she’d thrown away in a moment of cowardice. And the Dom behind her would wield the whip that could help her do it.

She would submit to him tonight and, this time, walk away, not run. Walk straight to Barry and beg him to give her another chance. If he said no…well, she had no plan for failure. So she had to go through with the ones she’d made and see where they took her.

Nothing she did tonight could be more humiliating than being laid out on the floor in the lobby like a dead fish. The security guard had tried hard to get her to see a doctor, but she’d refused even to give her name, unwilling to allow it to appear on an incident report where Barry might see it. And, aside from the embarrassment, she’d not suffered any harm.

Lily drew in a long, slow breath, filling her lungs, and let it out. She pivoted to face him.

“Barry.”

Her head spun. No…no! He wasn’t supposed to see her yet, not until she’d proved to herself…. How had she ended up in the wrong place? Turning, she read the other doors. Executive Suite B and Executive Office. No, she’d made no mistake. Madame Eve had.

He wore only a pair of worn jeans clinging to his hips, and she drank him in like a person dying of thirst in the desert would a cool drink of water. Only there was nothing cool about Barry.
